Sergio Mateos Angulo, RFIC and MMIC engineer at WIMMIC, recently earned a PhD degree from the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Spain). His PhD thesis entitled "Radiation Effects Analysis of RF Integrated Circuits Implemented in Nanometric Technologies Based on Silicon" focuses on the study of analog RF integrated circuits performance in harsh radiation environments. More specifically, Sergio evaluated CMOS based circuits behaviour under the effects of radiation. In his thesis, Sergio also proposes radiation-hardening-by-design techniques to mitigate the damages produced by these effects.
WIMMIC is a design house specialized in radiofrequency and microwave integrated circuits. We use our experience in Telecommunications, Space and Defense sectors to tackle any custom design of integrated circuits for any industry in need of miniaturization of electronic high-frequency systems. Thanks to this research work, WIMMIC increases its exclusive MMICs portfolio with very novel circuits which are robust against single event transients (SETs), increasing the company offering to customers. Currently, WIMMIC continues to study the effect of heavy ions in semiconductor devices, both in CMOS and GaN processes.
